Gore continues to be hostile toward the auto makers in Michigan, with promises to completely eliminate the internal combustion engine within 25 years.  (from his book Earth in the Balance, page 326). The Detroit News editors write, As detailed in a series of editorials last week in The Detroit News, Al Gore’s automotive policies would cost Michigan jobs. The Gore-backed Kyoto global warming accord alone would wipe out nearly 100,000 state jobs, according to an analysis by Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates. It would also make gasoline, heating fuel and electricity oppressively expensive. Mr. Gore’s disdain for the internal combustion engine is well- documented. He now claims to be a friend to the automobile industry and pledges to help automakers build battery-powered and alternative fuel vehicles. Americans very well may commute in such vehicles someday. But the technology is still decades off, even with a massive infusion of government research money. But Mr. Gore is not content to wait for technology or the marketplace. The Kyoto Treaty would require the United States to reduce energy consumption to levels below 1990 in less than 10 years. That mandate can only be met by pulling cars off the road and shutting down factories. Automakers have made rapid progress in building vehicles that are cleaner and more fuel efficient. Still, they find themselves under siege in Washington. Their profit machines — the light trucks and sport utility vehicles that account for most of the domestic industry’s earnings and about half its employment — have replaced cigarettes as Public Enemy No. 1 in some circles. A president who unleashes his regulators will quickly put an end to the prosperity Detroit now enjoys. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it thoughtfully composed:  : Gore . . . promises to completely eliminate the internal combustion engine Bullshit.  Paranoia runs high near election time. I'm sure soccer moms would just hand over their 4 ton SUV's because whoever got elected stated they should be banned.  Yeah, right. Besides, presidents have an affinity for motorcades wherever they go. They are constantly reminded how valuable motorcyles are when it comes to reliability, agility, and performance.  Why would a president ban something that helps protect him? I heard somewhere on this group that Gore's daughter rides.  I found some _link_s of Gore riding motorcycles himself: http://partners.nytimes.com/library/politics/camp/062100wh-gore.html http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A63157-2000Apr22.html http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39d1d774166c.htm Searching for Gore's daughter and a motorcycle got me 657 pages.  Sounds like he likes to ride.  I doubt Gore would have it in him to take such a great pastime away from us.

not. Larry, Larry.  Everything is relative.  I'm not rich in Monoco, but I sure as hec am in the US, and so are you.  Just because some dot.commers are rolling in it doesn't change the strata lines. I know how much my company subsidizes my care; so do the doctors, lawyers, and insurance companies.  Ugly set of checks and balances, eh? But better than Washington  You believe in a government health care system, I don't. Fair enough.  You've probablly noticed the issue isn't really being discussed in this year's campaign... Anyway, I have a Cardiologist friend who considers HMO's the worst form of socialism.  I also have a 6 million dollar niece, 2 years old, partial heart in the wrong location, who would have been written off in Canada or any other social system . Shucks, her father is a modest corporate Lawyer with a HMO! Now answer me this, how is the riding position of the 929 versus a VTR- 1000 (6'-2 ), and would I notice a severe loss of bottom-half grunt?  I heard the RC-51 has noticably less low end than a VTR so how does the 929 compare to the RC (if you haven't ridden a VTR)?  Someday I will trade the VTR before it's time out of pure glutany Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I also have a 6 million dollar niece, 2 years old, partial heart in the wrong location, who would have been written off in Canada or any other social system . Shucks, her father is a modest corporate Lawyer with a HMO! Which is probably the ONLY reason he was able to get care for her.  If he been just another schmuck with managed care benefits, his daughter would be little more than a memory and a gravesite. Jeff
