I called my 2 US senators and congressmen to tell them to support the public option for health care. The senators are in favor of the public option and my congressmen is not. I told the congressman this was totally unacceptable and must change. For all of you who do not like the public option, are you also going to decline your Medicare and VA benefits ? Both plans work and it is a example that public insurance works.

Medicare sure does work as long as you keep taxing the crap out of people to pay for double billing, billing for dead people, bills for people who aren't hurt. The system is to big to police it's self from corruption and thieves. The idea will work but people will take advantage of the system and you just keep paying. I believe I pay enough to your Uncle at this present time. The idea that everybody should have health coverage is great, but also a pipe dream. The system is too big to change all at once. Baby steps might show that the system will work and be a benefit to the country and not just to people who wont work, cant work, choose not to work or have no other means of coverage. Chris , I don't believe you have an understanding of the depth of the problem and yes you are already paying for the uninsured .In the hospital that I do clinical ,I have been astounded by the number of working americans that are in the hospital with life threatening conditions that could have been managed with good medical care.Yet because these employed Americans are unable to afford insurance , their treatable hypertension ,diabetes has gotten out of control ,they are admitted for expensive emergency care . This is paid for by the New Jersey Charity care program. It would be much more efficient to provide outpatient care in the first place And cheaper.
